The Liner Shipping Game™

MPC International is excited to partner with LinerGame.net (co-founded by Lars Jensen & Niels Rytter) to bring the Liner Game workshops to major cities across Australia. This initiative aims to introduce the Liner Game in industry networking workshops to foster collaboration, enhance skills, and drive innovation within the global supply chain industry.

THE LINER SHIPPING GAME™

The Liner Shipping Game™ is a business simulation that allows a team of ideally 8-16 participants the unique opportunity to simulate and experience how a modern container container shipping line or supply chain using vessels and containers made out of LEGOTM* combined with a paper-based flow of documentation in a small scale setup in less than one day.

During the game, the team will take responsibility for core commercial and operational tasks of a container shipping line or supply chain, including optionally vital terminal and vessel stowage tasks, and through teamwork they can maximize carrier profitability and sustainability which they are measured on.

Each player gets to try different roles in the shipping line or supply chain by rotating and collaborate closely with other team members. The game can be configured to match industry experience and interests of the team, and shorter or longer sessions can be arranged by simply reducing / adding number of rounds to be played or by reducing / adding features and complexity to the game setup. A game day is finished with a wrap up of key game learnings and a discussion of how they can be applied in today’s competitive liner shipping industry.

The Liner Game Value

The Liner Shipping Game™ is designed to provide a realistic understanding of liner shipping operations. It simplifies complex processes to ensure even those new to the industry can gain valuable insights within a single workshop day. The game is also flexible enough to challenge seasoned professionals by allowing for customisable scenarios that reflect real-world shipping disruptions and operational decisions.

Key Features of the Game:

Interactive Roles: Participants manage booking uptake, vessel stowage & terminal operations, among other responsibilities.
Realistic Setup: The game simulates a shipping network with four vessels operating across two regions & four ports, handling cargo types & client segments.
Dynamic Learning: Each session promotes teamwork & critical thinking for better revenue management & storage optimisation.
